The Binh Minh Treatment Center was established in 2002 as a branch of the first non-governmental Addiction Treatment Center in Vietnam.
3 Vietnamese, who also form the Board of Directors, own the Center.
Binh Minh is a Treatment Center for both male and females and the main objective of the Center is detoxification and stabilization of substance abusers.
The Center has a competent medical/detoxification unit, and although detox. is short 5-7 days, also because heroin, which is the most common drug used in Vietnam, is very pure.
The doctors and nurses at the Center use state-of-the-art detox. methods.
Basically, you can choose 20 days detoxification treatment which can be prolonged with a stabilization program of up to 3 month.
Some physical training is offered, however there is neither counseling nor vocational training after detoxification.
The center has a total staff of 43 people.
Binh Minh enjoys support from the local district police force, including their security unit, the Department for Social Evil Prevention (DSEP) as well as the department for Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City.
NGO Fontana was formed in Denmark in 1998 as a membership-based non-profit organization.
NGO Fontana is committed to promote the prevention and reduction of harm related use of chemical substances developing into chemical dependency.
In Denmak, NGO Fontana is closely affiliated with Taarup and Fontana Treatment Centers (two non-profit Foundations), which are duly authorized and state-of-the-art Treatment centers.
Those Centers have treated more than 10.000 people and their families for this devastating disease.
NGO Fontana is independent of any political or religious affiliation and co-operate with like-minded voluntary and non-governmental organizations in the field of prevention and treatment of chemical dependency.
In Vietnam, NGO Fontana is registered with PACCOM (The People’s Aid Coordinating Committee) and VUFO (Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations).
Close working relations are also cultivated with relevant Vietnamese Authorities and NGO’s as well as with international organizations.
Ngo has a Project office in Ho Chi Minh City, which provides administrative support to ongoing project activities.
With new and very generous donations fro NGO Fontana and DANIDA, NGO Fontana is in the process of establishing a Half-Way House, which will include Family Information and a Documentation & Communication Center, dedicated to disseminating the results achieved and to provide solid information on the situation of spouses, teenagers, and children.
The NGO Fontana Half-Way House exists to provide ongoing support to clients committed to sobriety and in recovery from alcohol dependency and drug addiction – and who are wiling and able to progress towards appropriate social and occupational functioning – by building on the continuum of care.
The Fontana Program is designed to sustain personal achievements by targeting services for recovery management and client development processes.
Clients admitted to the Half-Way House are people who require a longer period in a secure and safe environment to substantially improve their chances of living a sober and drug free life after treatment.
